Depending on your diagnosis, your cancer specialist may recommend a type of treatment called hormone therapy, also known as endocrine therapy, as a part of your personalized treatment plan.
Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center is a leader in the research and use of this therapy to slow or stop cancer cell growth for certain cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer

Leaders in Hormone Therapy Treatment and Research

Your multidisciplinary team uses the latest diagnostic techniques to determine if hormone therapy should be part of your treatment plan. We base our approach to hormone therapy treatment on rigorous scientific research and have been part of international studies focused on understanding the benefits of using hormone therapy alone or in combination with other treatments after breast cancer surgery, to name a few.

For example, our team was at the forefront of the international TAILORx (Trial Assigning Individualized Options for Treatment (Rx)) study that found that hormone therapy is an effective cancer treatment for certain types of breast cancer. Through TAILORx, the use of hormone therapy alone after surgery worked as well for women with a specific type of breast cancer as the use of combined hormone therapy and chemotherapy. This breakthrough finding expands treatment options for some types of breast cancer, reducing the use of chemotherapy and sparing patients from its potential side effects.
